Your Anon News (Known as YAN) is the online group of hacktivists upcoming news website. The official spokesperson has stated that the website will be "Clean and practical, but also fun to use". YAN has raised around $54 000 towards the site already. The purpose of the news site would be to take anon's newsgather to more than just people who have facebook and twitter. The spokesperson for YAN has stated the want of some of the contributing members to report on situations, not just to aggregate and intervene in a scenerio. Anonymous has stated that YAN would feature stories from multiple Indie news sources. They have revealed that the site would largely shun facebook, having no comments section while subbmissions from the public will be allowed.  Ultimately, Anon's goal for the website is "To start getting real news out there, to everyone".
My thoughts? I think it's pretty cool. I've never been a fan of news and always thought "news just reports what they want and leave out details, its not overly trustworthy". However, with YAN, I think that people like me would become much more informed on the real world. I trust anonymous to show whole stories about situations, thats what they have always done. I done think they would "Doctor" or leave out details like some other news sight. I will be waiting for the reveal of YAN on whatever date it comes out.

Almost everybody has heard about the Boston Bombings. I myself don’t really have any opinions on the situation other than what I’ve heard on the media. Here’s a quick recap.

April 15 2013 two bombs were detonated at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Three people were killed and 282 others were injured by the blasts. Three days later on the campus of MIT (Massachusetts institute of Technology) in Cambridge Massachusetts, a security officer was shot and killed, followed by a carjacking and an exchange of gunfire. During the exchange, the older of the two brothers, 26 year old Tamerlan Tsarnaev was shot and killed while his younger 19 year old brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, escaped. April 19th, police issued a large manhunt to find the younger brother in the town of Watertown Massachusetts. The police tracked him down to a boat where he was shot and taken into custody. Dzhokhar was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to receive treatment for his injuries before being transferred to Federal Medical Center, a facility that specializes in treatment of federal prisoners and detainees who require specialized long-term medical or mental health care. Over the course of the manhunt, resident of Boston and surrounding areas were urged to stay indoors and public transportations were shutdown.

I noticed while reading the story that the brothers were from war torn Chechnya, on the Russian border. This was interesting to me because I was having a conversation with a friend about the state of Chechnya and the amount of violence in the country. With the brother’s Uncle saying that the two couldn’t “Assimilate” to American culture, factored in with their roots in Chechnya and their Muslim religion, they could have been more susceptible to influence on the internet to commit an act such as this. If they were reluctant to assimilate and angry over the U.S policies, then it’s very likely that they had a higher chance of being influenced by radical opinions seen on the internet. Hopefully, after an event such as this, more efforts will be investigated into preventing such a thing from happening again.

Margaret Thatcher had died at 87 years old and is being remembered by many as one of Britain’s greatest Prime Ministers. She was killed by a stroke while at the Ritz Hotel in London. Margaret’s funeral will be taking place at St. Paul’s Cathedral along with full military honors and a private cremation afterwards.

Thatcher was the leader of Britain’s Conservative party form 1975-1990. She was referred to as the “Iron Lady” for her Toughness in both Politics and Personal life. Six years after a T.V. interview where she declared “I don’t think there will be a woman Prime minister in my lifetime” she won that very job. She was hailed as an inspiration for her views on Moral Absolutism, Nationalism and the rights of individuals.

She was given the nickname of “Iron Lady” by the Soviet Union because of her statement of “the Russians are bent on world dominance.” and because of their similar conservative views, enjoyed a close relationship with the U.S. President, Ronald Reagan. Later, she gave her approval to the communist reformer Mikhail Gorbachev, saying “I like Mr. Gorbachev. We can do business together”. Mikhail became the leader of the Soviet Union 3 months later.

As the British Prime Minister, Thatcher took a firm stance with the European Community by demanding a rebate of money London contributed to Brussels. She was just as firm in issues such as domestic and foreign issues, stating that she had no intention of changing her mind. Margaret stepped down from her role as Prime Minister in 1990. One year later she was awarded the U.S. Medal of Freedom by President George Bush and was named “Baroness Thatcher of Kesteven” after leaving Office.

I can honestly say that I did not know who Margaret Thatcher was before this assignment. I heard her name before but never stating who she was and I never had the curiosity to search her up. After this assignment I can say I’m glad that she was Britain’s Prime Minister. She clearly had a great impact on shaping the world as we know it today and in helping the people and economy of Britain, one of our closest allies. She is clearly someone who will be missed my many.

For those who don’t know, Anonymous is a group of online hackers that some call “Hacktivists”. Anonymous participates in “raids” on government data sources and other online materials. For a while Anonymous hasn’t been heard from, perhaps just for a few unheard of exploits. Recently however, Anonymous has launched a second attack against Israel, causing Multi Billions worth of damage.

For Israel’s mistreatment of Palestinians Anonymous has threatened to “disrupt and erase Israel from cyberspace” and shut down dozens of Israeli websites, Including the Israeli Ministry of Defense online page. The Israeli government claims that the damage was not serious as some hacks were as minor as not being able to load the website. Anonymous claims to have shut down several government sites, which the Israeli government denies. Anonymous did also release a list of Email addresses and credit card numbers, causing further damage in the attack.

Whether or not the damage is as serious as Anonymous reports or as mild as the Israeli government says, damage was still done. The amount of damage done has topped at least 3+ billion dollars. I would not wanna get on the wrong side of them.

Tracking your cat? Awesome! Dave Evans, a man from Marlborough, UK has invented a GPS collar for his cat, initially to find out why it was gaining weight. With this GPS, Dave was able to find out where his cat went and what his cat did during the night. He found that his cat was visiting other houses, which were suspected of feeding him, solving the mystery of his weight gain.

Dave did however walk out of this situation with more than a pudgy feline however. He named the GPS collar “G-Paws” and is putting it on sale for other curious cat owners to try. While animal GPS tracking has been available for years, “G-Paws” sets itself apart by its lightweight waterproof design. Unfortunately, G-Paws does not provide live tracking of your Cat, so you cannot stalk your pet.

What significance does this have for people? Not a hell of a lot, you can just track your friggin cat.

North Korea OKd plan to Attack U.S.

In what the United States calls an “extended deterrence mission” they sent B-2 Stealth bombers on a round trip over the Korean peninsula. What was meant to be a deterrence may have been another catalyst to a possible nuclear war.

In response to the United States’ stealth bombing run, North Korea gave the OK to a plan to prepare an attack on the U.S. CNN reported “If they make a reckless provocation with huge strategic forces, [we] should mercilessly strike the U.S. mainland, their stronghold, their military bases in the operational theaters in the Pacific, including Hawaii and Guam, and those in South Korea.”.

The American defense minister stated “the B-2 flyby was not intended as inflame tensions, instead it was meant to signal that these provocations by the North are taken by us very seriously and we'll respond to that” To me it almost sounds like the U.S.is antagonizing North Korea by showing displays of military power towards the country. All these aggressive actions could lead to a possible WW3 in which no one comes out unscathed….or un-nuked.

What's this? Camels in the Arctic? But how? Why, They're ancient of course! Scientists have recently discovered a new way of identifying fossils and this has allowed scientists to identify an ancient species of camel that roamed the arctic circle. The technique used to identify these fossils come from a process of using the collagen inside of the fossil to create a unique profile of proteins allowing for even the smallest of fossil fragments to be identified. What does this mean for fossils? Past fossils that have been previously unable to be identifies allowing for a more comprehensive knowledge on dinosaurs and other ancient oganisms. This discovery could also perhaps to future discoveries of new ancient creatures.

November 8th 2012 a new dinosaur was discovered in Alberta Canada. While originally found in 1958 but was not formally recognized untill last year due to being missclassified as nother ceratops. The Dinosaur was given the name of "Xenoceratops" Xeno meaning Alien, or Foreign, and Ceratops meaning Horned face, giving the full xenoceratops the neme "alien horned face", a fitting name for this strange looking thing. The Xenoceratops has been given an a size of 20 feet long and and approximate weight of approximately 2 tons based on its skeletal structure. Being of Ceratops origin, the creature was a plant eater and was also the oldest known Ceratops in canada, despite the fact that it hasn't formally been recognized untill now. A new dinosaur discovered today doesn't hold much significance to modern living but it does hold a special place in many people's hearts. As a dinosaur lover myself, the discovery of a brand new Ceratops is a fascinating but not neccesary to the lives of modern individuals. Unless scientists somehow discovered a way to reanimate dinosaurs...that'd be cool.

On the morning of Febuary 15 2013 a meteor entered earths atmosphere, exploding approximately 30-50 kilometres above the Chelyabinsk region in Russia. The injury toll is over 1000 people, the majority of injuries being caused by the broken glass from the shockwave of the blast. The Russian academy of science estimates that the single 10-ton meteor entered the atmosphere at around 54,000 kph (33,000 mph). The Chelyabinsk region is 930 miles (1 500 Km) east of moscow in the Ural mountains. The potential for risk could have been much greater if the meteor was to explode in a more densely populated area.
